The season may have ended almost a month ago but there remains plenty of news to keep Liverpool fans occupied this last week.

We’ll begin with Wednesday’s release of the new season’s fixtures, which sees us begin away from Anfield for the sixth consecutive year. We begin at White Hart Lane against Spurs, and end the season against Hull at the KC Stadium. More info.

There’s been plenty of transfer gossip and speculation so here’s a quick update;

  • Glenn Johnson
    £17.5m bid accepted by Portsmouth from Liverpool, and Chelsea. Reports suggest Johnson prefers a move to Anfield and will sign early next week. Finance will be partly funded by payments yet to be paid for Peter Crouch.
  • Carlos Tevez
    The Argie forward apparently has ruled out a move to Liverpool and will instead choose between Man City or Chelsea
  • David Villa
    Torres urged Rafa to sign his international team-mate but Villa says his decision has been made where he will go – press say that is the Bernabeu.

  • Xabi Alonso
    The Reds midfielder has refused to comment on his future, Rafa says he wants to stay but the press say a £30m bid would be accepted by Rafa. This one won’t be going away any time soon.
  • Javier Mascherano
    The club issued a statement with a hands-off both Masch and Xabi but the press continue to claim he and his wife are unsettled on Merseyside. Torres says he’s not though. Barcelona continue to be snooping around.
  • Andrea Dossena
    One minute he wants to leave the next he doesn’t, depending when you read this the latest is he wants to stay and fight for a place. Still looking likely to head to Juve for £6m-ish though.
  • Alvaro Arbeloa
    Only has a year left on his contract, is “flattered” by interest from Real Madrid and likely to join them if Johnson’s move is confirmed.
  • Jermaine Pennant
    Becomes a free agent at the end of the month when his contract expires.
