Johnson set to return for LFC

Glen Johnson could return from injury to face Napoli in this Thursday’s Europa League clash at Anfield.

The Reds right-back has missed the last four games for the club with a muscle injury, amid speculation linking him with a January transfer away from Merseyside.

The England international faces late fitness tests to determine whether he can face the Italians.

Reds boss Roy Hodgson told the club’s official web site, “Johnson trained today. If nothing happens tomorrow then he can play on Thursday.”

Meanwhile Hodgson also gave updates on injuries on three other Reds.

Dirk Kuyt, Daniel Agger and Joe Cole will all miss the game and Hodgson explained that Agger’s injury is causing worry at Melwood.

“Daniel Agger has quite a serious problem with his calf,” explained Hodgson. “It’s a question of time and there’s not so much more the physios and medical staff can do. We have to be patient.”

Liverpool vs Napoli gets underway at 8.05pm this Thursday, 4th November.
