West Brom vs LFC starting line-ups: Allen and Borini start

Brendan Rodgers names a very impressive line-up for his first Premier League game in charge of Liverpool, as they open the Premier League season away to West Brom this afternoon.

The Reds come face to face with former assistant manager Steve Clarke’s Baggies, who will be looking for a bright start to life under their new boss in front of their home fans.

There is a club debut for new midfield signing Joe Allen, whilst Fabio Borini, the Italian summer signing from Roma, starts up front alongside Luis Suarez.

Steven Gerrard and Lucas Leiva marshall the midfield, whilst Glen Johnson fills in for Jose Enrique at left-back, with Martin Kelly taking up the right-back position.

There is no place for Jay Spearing in today’s matchday squad.

Liverpool: Reina, Kelly, Skrtel, Agger, Johnson, Allen, Lucas, Gerrard, Downing, Suarez, Borini.

Subs: Jones, Adam, Henderson, Shelvey, Carroll, Carragher, Cole.

Kick-off at the Hawthorns is 3pm.
