The deal is still “subject to the completion of paperwork” but expected to officially go through shortly.
As we reported last night, Cissokho underwent his medical at the club on Monday, and was photographed at Melwood supposedly signing his contract with the club yesterday evening.
Cissokho, who trained with his new teammates for the first time at Melwood today, will wear the number 20 shirt at Liverpool.
He is expected to provide quality competition for the left-back position to Jose Enrique, who started the season in that position for the Reds in their opening day of the season win over Stoke City at Anfield on Sunday.
Speaking to the club’s official website on his arrival on Merseyside, Cissokho said he was delighted to have made the switch from La Liga.
“I feel extremely proud to be here and I’m proud of all the hard work I’ve put in so far throughout my career,” he said.
“I’ve always dreamt of one day signing for a really legendary club. I’ve been lucky enough to play for a few top sides and so to now get the chance to play for a club like Liverpool, it’s just fantastic.”
