Liverpool completed the task of eliminating their arch rivals with a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford, sealing the Reds’ route into the last eight.

A piece of magic from Philippe Coutinho on the stroke of half-time cancelled out Anthony Martial’s penalty and handed the Reds the crucial away goal they knew would kill the contest, setting up a mouthwatering quarter-final tie with Borussia Dortmund.

A 3-1 aggregate win was a thoroughly deserved outcome for Klopp’s side, who produced a mature display in Manchester to complement the outstanding performance turned in at Anfield last week.

Coming out on top in such a huge tie – in which Liverpool become the first English club to eliminate United from European competition – prompted the Reds to express their delight post-match.

Deserved winners over the two legs! Great team performance tonight. Looking forward to the draw tomorrow. #YNWA
