Gomes out to cause Anfield upset

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes is confident Spurs will go to Anfield this Sunday and claim victory, which could edge the North London club into the Europa League (UEFA Cup) qualification, dependant on Fulham‘s result at home to Everton.

Liverpool will be celebrating their most successful Premier League season yet despite not winning the title, with a win taking their points tally to 86 points.

There’s also celebrations at Anfield this Sunday in saying goodbye to legend Sami Hyypia, who will play his last game for the club after 10 years on Merseyside and Gomes’ counterpart Pepe Reina could claim the Premier League‘s golden glove award if he keeps a clean sheet and Manchester Utd’s Edwin van der Sar doesn’t.

Gomes says, “We can win at Liverpool. We have confidence for this game and we will give everything we have for one last time this season.

“Teams like Liverpool will always play well, but they do give you space to play, so we can definitely score. Hopefully we can keep another clean sheet as well.”

However, Spurs haven’t won in the league at Anfield since 1993.

Liverpool vs Tottenham kicks off at 4pm on Sunday, 24th May. All Premier League games kick-off at the same time as it is the last day of the season.
