Liverpool confirm Gerrard and former trio to play for Reds in Sydney

Liverpool have confirmed that Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher, Daniel Agger and Steve McManaman will be in Jurgen Klopp‘s squad for the post-season friendly in Sydney next month.

The match against Sydney FC takes place just three days after the final game of the season against Middlesbrough and is being billed as being part of the club’s 125-year celebrations.

June 3 officially marks the Reds’ 125th anniversary, and Liverpool are likely to be sporting a new home kit with a commemorative badge for the friendly match.

It means we could get to see Gerrard alongside the likes of Philippe Coutinho again, while Carragher and Agger will hopefully teach our current centre backs a little.

Steven Gerrard said: “It will be an honour to pull on the Red shirt and play football with an outstanding squad and former team mates – this is what Liverpool is all about, celebrating the family that has been around for 125 years.

“Our fans in Australia always give us a warm welcome so it’ll be a great feeling to see the ANZ Stadium turn red on 24th May.”
