Reds Will Offer Lallana Short-Term Contract
Adam Lallana enjoyed one of his biggest contributions in a Liverpool shirt on Sunday, scoring the all-important late equaliser against Man United.
The 31-year-old is in the final year of his contract at Anfield and many expect him to move on to pastures new next summer.
The Athletic‘s James Pearce claims the Reds will offer Lallana a short-term extension, however, in a bid to extend his five-year stay on Merseyside.
It was originally reported when Lallana signed his current contract back in 2017 that the club included a one-year extension clause, which they could activate as they did with Joel Matip earlier this year.
Pearce adds that Liverpool are expecting “plenty of interest” in the midfielder across Europe, most notably from Serie A.
Lallana deserves great credit for his impact at United, but next summer still feels like a logical time for him to find a fresh challenge.
Jurgen Klopp is clearly still a fan, though, telling LiverpoolFC.com that Lallana’s Old Trafford strike was a “wonderful, wonderful, wonderful story.”
Shaqiri Receiving Treatment in Switzerland
Xherdan Shaqiri hasn’t featured for Liverpool since a late substitutes’ appearance away to Napoli last month.
The 28-year-old is suffering from a calf injury picked up in training and he has confirmed that he is receiving treatment on the problem back home.
“I’m from Basel as well, so I always visit my family here,” Shaqiri told Blick.
“I can do a part of my therapy here in Basel.”
It is a frustrating time for Shaqiri, who was such a key player for Liverpool this time last year, but has since fallen completely out of favour.
Evra Calls Milner His Toughest Opponent
James Milner finally seems to be earning the plaudits he has always deserved, as his career slowly begins to wind down.
Someone who thinks particularly highly of Milner is former United left-back Patrice Evra, who singled him out as his toughest opponent ever on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football:

To select Milner ahead of Lionel Messi is fairly remarkable—while there is no doubting who the better player is, Evra’s comments highlight how good the Liverpool man has been.
He is one of the most consistent English players of his generation.
Liverpool Have “Great Interest” in Sancho
Jadon Sancho is one of the hottest properties in world football, starring for Borussia Dortmund since leaving Man City.
The 19-year-old has been linked with a move to Liverpool in the past and Didi Hamann has now added some fuel to the fire.
Speaking to Sky90, the ex-Reds midfielder claimed that there is genuine interest in Sancho from the European champions:
“What I hear is that Liverpool has great interest.
“I would imagine that next summer they could become one of the biggest interested parties.”
Hamann does state that a deal won’t happen if Dortmund want an “astronomical” fee for the forward, however.
Take it with a pinch of salt, but allow yourself a smidgen of excitement.
United Supporter Banned for Life
Trent Alexander-Arnold was the subject of vile racist abuse from a United supporter on Sunday—thankfully, it didn’t go unnoticed.
The fan was immediately ejected from Old Trafford and the Mail have now confirmed that he has been banned from the ground for life.
United launched an investigation and subsequently found the unnamed supporter on CCTV.
The incident is believed to have taken place near the players’ executive boxes during the first half of the 1-1 draw, and was “met with a furious reaction” from those nearby.
Critchley’s Praise for Young Pair
If you ask most Liverpool fans which youngsters they are most looking forward to seeing develop in the coming years, Curtis Jones and Rhian Brewster will invariably get a mention.
The pair are both starring for the Reds’ under-23s this season and could also feature prominently in Wednesday’s UEFA Youth League clash away to Genk (1pm BST).
Speaking to the club’s official website, U23s boss Neil Critchley lauded captain Jones, describing him as a “big influence in the dressing room,” as well as a “positive one.”
Meanwhile, Brewster also received a glowing assessment, with Critchley hailing his “really good personality” and saying it’s a “win-win” situation with him, in terms of representing either the first team or the under-19s on Wednesday.
Anfield to Introduce Reusable Cups
Liverpool have confirmed that reusable cups will now be provided at Anfield, as part of the Reds Going Green initiative.
It all starts when Tottenham visit on Sunday afternoon, with supporters asked to hand their cups back to their nearest kiosk or LFC Reds Going Green volunteers when they are finished with it.
The report states that “the initiative will see the club typically reduce its plastic waste by approximately 170,000 cups per season.”
