Liverpool transfer target, Dutch striker Dirk Kuyt, was on target to score Feyenoord’s second goal in a 2-0 pre-season victory over Middesbrough.
Kuyt scored after 55 minutes after Stein Huysegems had given Feyenoord the lead after 17 minutes.
It is understood that Liverpool and Newcastle are the only two teams left in the race to sign Kuyt after Manchester United turned their attentions elsewhere.
A decision on Kuyt’s future is expected to be made in the next week with the Premiership season kicking off on August 19th.
