Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez says that poor mistakes cost his side today as the Reds slumped to a bitterly disappointing 3-0 defeat at the hands of Everton.
Goals from Tim Cahill and two from Andy Johnson gave the Blues victory at Goodison Park, with defensive errors responsible for at least two of the goals.
Benitez says, “We made a lot of mistakes, too many mistakes and our defending was really poor,” explained Benitez.
“Last season we had a lot of clean sheets so we need to analyse why we are conceding goals so easily.
“I thought we were too nice at times and put ourselves under pressure. Someone said to me we had 21 shots at goal but that counts for nothing if you don’t take your chances.
“It is a very disappointing day for us for sure.”
The Reds next face PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League on Tuesday night, before a trip to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea next Sunday.
