Both Steven Gerrard, 27, and Jamie Carragher, 29, have this afternoon pledged their commitment to Liverpool’s future by signing contracts that will keep the pair at Anfield until at least 2011.
Currently both on international duty for England, Gerrard and Carragher took time out of preparations for Wednesday’s Euro 2008 qualifier in Estonia to put pen to paper on the new deals.
Captain Gerrard revealed, “The negotiations have gone really smoothly. I’m just pleased to get it out of the way and we can look forward to next season now.”
Whilst Carragher added, “I am very pleased. Obviously we are both local lads and I’ve always said I wanted to stay here for the rest of my career.”
