Liverpool draw Reading in Cup

Liverpool face a Tuesday night trip to the Madejski Stadium on September 25th in the third round of the Carling Cup.

The draw took place at lunchtime on Saturday and threw up five all-Premier League ties to take place on the week commencing September 24th.

Reading suffered an embarrassing 3-0 defeat at home today to the hands of West Ham. Former Reds striker Craig Bellamy opened the scoring for the Hammers, before Matthew Etherington added two more.

Steve Coppell’s men currently sit in the relegation zone with just four points from five games.

They struggled past Swansea in the 2nd round of the Carling Cup, winning 1-0 after extra time thanks to a messy Leroy Lita goal.

Other notable fixtures include Arsenal playing host to Newcastle, Everton go to Hillsborough to face Sheffield Wednesday, Hull’s 2nd round victory over Wigan earns them a home tie against Chelsea and Tottenham play Middlesbrough.
