That is the resounding message from Liverpool fans ahead of tonight’s crucial Champions League group match with FC Porto at Anfield.
And the message will be made blatantly clear with a huge show of support including a pre-match ‘march for Rafa’ from The Sandon pub with a massive banner 90ft wide displaying “As always, we are focussing on supporting our manager”.
Some press reports today suggest 5,000 fans will be involved in the march, but the organisers (RTK) hope for as many as possible. It will begin around 7pm (with fans meeting in Sandon car park from 6:30pm onwards). All media outlets have been notified of the rally of support and it is hoped the message to Liverpool’s co-owners will be loud and clear, both before and throughout the match.
There will also be a few thousand leaflets being handed out in the pubs and streets around the ground to inform any fans who do not already know of the demonstration of support for the manager and the famous ‘Rafatolah’ should be making an appearance tonight.
Fans have been encouraged to bring along any banners representing Rafa and to sing his name for the full 90 minutes.
A petition started on Monday has amassed an impressive 32,000 signatures in support of Benitez and 82% of fans who have so far voted in our site poll have admitted they would be ‘totally devestated’ if Benitez were to leave the club. Only 2% claim they would be quite happy.
It promises to be a huge night for the fans and manager – with everybody hoping it can be topped by the right result on the pitch as well as off it.
