Good news on Skrtel injury

Liverpool have been boosted by the news defender Martin Skrtel does not require surgery on the knee injury he sustained against Man City on Sunday and could be back in action at Christmas.

As was reported yesterday, it seems Skrtel has suffered a pulled and slightly torn ligament meaning the recovery time is around 2-3 months, rather than 6 months if he had completely torn the ligament and therefore required surgery.

Liverpool spokesman Ian Cotton said “Martin was examined by a specialist today (Tuesday), who confirmed the player does not require surgery and is expected to be back playing by Christmas.”

Liverpool face Arsenal, Bolton and Newcastle over the Christmas period and would be boosted by the return of Skrtel, who has quickly made himself a fans favourite since his arrival last January from Zenit St. Petersburg.
