Agger labels performance ‘œindescribably bad’

Liverpool defender Daniel Agger has called for the team to put on a much improved performance at home to Marseille tonight, after Saturday’s show against Fulham at Anfield which he described as ‘œso bad it was almost indescribable’.

The Reds failed to impress the imagination as they were held to a goalless draw by the Cottagers with goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer pulling off some great saves to keep Rafa Benitez’s men at bay.

Victory in tonight’s Champions League tie against Marseille will see Liverpool through to the next round of the competition and Agger knows a better display than Saturday’s stalemate is a must.

He says, “Our performance against Fulham in the first half was not good enough,” the Danish international admitted.

“It was really, really bad and it was almost too difficult to describe. We got better in the second half and created some chances and had more possession but we know we must do better than that.

“Marseille will be a difficult game because it is in the Champions League and all matches are tough in this competition.

“We want to go through to the next stage of the competition as early as possible.”

Liverpool vs Marseille kicks-off at 7.45pm.
