Robbie goes Down Under

Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler has signed a 2 year deal with newly promoted Australian A-league side North Queensland Fury.

Fowler was released by Blackburn Rovers in December and signs for the Ozzie club as a free agent.

Fowler was linked with several other Australian and Chinese teams, but eventually opted to sign a deal with Fury. On the move he said, “Everything Fury coach Ian Ferguson put on the table and showed me was first class,” said Fowler.

“The enthusiasm and drive of everyone at the club is fantastic.

“It’s a huge decision for my family but it’s also an opportunity to continue my football career in a truly wonderful part of the world.”

Fowler enjoyed two spells at Anfield, between 1993-2001, scoring 120 goals in 236 appearances and between 2006-2007, scoring 8 goals in 30 appearances under Rafa Benitez.
