Voronin does the trick for Hertha

Loaned out Liverpool striker Andriy Voronin continues to impress in Germany, this time scoring a hat-trick to keep Hertha Berlin top of Bundesliga.

There had been reports that the Ukrainian international would be recalled to Anfield following the departure of Robbie Keane in January, but that never materialised and instead Voronin has been banging them in for Hertha.

The pony-tailed striker has 10 league goals this season, grabbing his hat-trick in a 3-1 win over Energie on Saturday – seven of his goals have arrived in the last five games so to say he is on form is somewhat of an understatement.

If only he could have produced that kind of form for the Reds we may not be worrying about an understudy for Torres. I’m personally still surprised Rafa didn’t recall him when Keane left as he is clearly a better option than some in the squad.

Voronin’s loan move to Hertha is likely to be made permanent in the summer, his current form can only be good in terms of how much Liverpool will get for a player signed on a free transfer.
