Rafa prepares for summer of trading

There could be a few faces shown the Anfield door this summer with Rafa Benitez looking set to have to raise his own transfer funds for new players again.

The Reds have been linked with summer moves for the likes of Gareth Barry and David Villa.

Benitez says preparation for the end of season transfer battles has already begun, with the Spaniard determined not to leave deals off so much that they fall through. He was incensed by not signing Aston Villa‘s Barry last summer after a long running transfer saga.

On the forthcoming transfer activities, Benitez said, “More or less I will have an idea of how much we will have to spend.

“I think we’d have to sell players to increase the money we’ll need, but at the moment we’re not talking about names and money.

“We are working on targets and we will try to do things as quickly and cheaply as possible.

“Every year it is important to sign good players, the right players. We know we have better players than before and it will be difficult to find better players than we have now.

“But we are working very hard during the season, looking for and watching players. We will be ready.”
