Talks underway to Carlsberg-brand new Anfield

15 May 2009

Liverpool Football Club’s official sponsors Carlsberg have confirmed that they will bring up the idea of having their brand name in the name of Liverpool’s new stadium.

Although development has been on hold for some time, the £350million new stadium could still be built in the next few years and the Danish brewery want their name on it.

Carlsberg are currently renegotiating their £7.3million a year sponsorship deal with the club that has one year left to run on the current deal and director of sponsorship, Gareth Roberts, confirmed the stadium branding idea.

He said, ‘œThat will be part of the discussion but there’s been no decisions yet.’

Carlsberg has been Liverpool’s official sponsor for 17 years.
