Liverpool vs Stoke City

Liverpool return to Anfield after a disappointing 2-1 opening day defeat at Tottenham.

The Reds looked lacklustre and missing the services of Xabi Alonso and Sami Hyypia, so Rafa Benitez will be hoping his side can bounce back and beat a team they failed to claim victory over last season.

Stoke held Liverpool to two goalless draws last season and Rafa Benitez will be hoping defenders Jamie Carragher and Martin Skrtel shake off their respective head and jaw injuries they suffered in a collision with each other against Spurs. They will be required to combat Stoke’s aerial and physical presence.

Tony Pulis’ side opened their season with a 2-0 win over newcomers Burnley.

Ruled Out:
Alberto Aquiliani, Nabil El Zhar
Injury concerns:
Daniel Agger, Martin Skrtel
