Football - Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur Barclays Premier League

If there was ever a time for Liverpool to forget what’s happened so far this season and get on with bossing the pitch again, it is now.

Tottenham sit where the Reds aim to be – fourth spot in the league – 4 points ahead, so defeat on Wednesday night at Anfield in unimaginable.

As the pressure continues to be weighted on Rafa Benitez’s shoulders, he again has a small squad to choose from with Steven Gerrard, Fernando Torres, Yossi Benayoun, Glen Johnson, Martin Kelly and Nabil El Zhar all out injured.

Daniel Agger may also be on that list after missing Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Stoke with a recurrence of his back problems, although Ryan Babel is expected to be recalled to the squad to provide more attacking options.

Spurs beat Liverpool in the reverse fixture at White Hart Lane in the opening game of this season to start the miserable form we are still enduring now.

This fixture last season saw Liverpool win 3-1 on the final day of the campaign, goals coming from Torres, Benayoun and a Hutton own goal. Spurs’ was scored by ex-Red, Robbie Keane. And it was Sami Hyypia and Xabi Alonso’s final game for the club. Happy days.
