Planes, trains & automobiles…

Liverpool will travel via coach, rail and a short flight in order to get to Madrid for their Europa League semi-final with Atletico on Thursday.

The Reds face West Ham at Anfield this evening before setting off on their epic journey, caused by the chaos following the Iceland volcano.

Rafa Benitez’s men are preparing to travel via coach to France, take the train to Bordeaux, then a short flight from there to Madrid.

As we suggested earlier, a 2,600 mile round trip was never a reasonable suggestion.

Liverpool fans meanwhile may be contemplating the 21 hour journey in order to ensure they get their on time.

UK airspace restrictions are expected to be lifted somewhat on Tuesday but the backlog means travelling to Madrid won’t be straightforward regardless.
