Breakthrough in Liverpool fan ownership steps

Liverpool supporters groups Spirit of Shankly and ShareLiverpoolFC have announced a breakthrough in working together in the interests of pursuing fan ownership of the football club.

Until recently, the two organisations had their own ideas about going about buying a stake in the club, leading to the eventual goal of complete fan ownership.

The “formal agreement” will see the two organisations pool their resources and knowledge together to continue the development of a supporter owned model and the raising of funds amongst supporters.

A statement from Spirit of Shankly reads, “Working together is clearly the best result for all of us. By combining forces on this issue we are creating a massive organisation of LFC supporters in pursuit of a shared aim. Every single one of us, speaking with one voice, letting everyone know that this is our Club, not only emotionally but financially too. We have to build on the momentum we have now, grow and become stronger, to become truly representative of the entire fan base.”

The news of the agreement will be welcomed by many Reds fans who have previously expressed reservations about two different supporter groups with similar aims working at the same time.
