Inexperienced side to face Utrecht

Roy Hodgson has handed Liverpool full debuts to goalkeeper Brad Jones and forward Nathan Eccleston for tonight’s final Europa League group match against FC Utrecht.

Hodgson told press yesterday that Pepe Reina would be starting the game. “He’ll be starting the game and Brad Jones will be the second ‘keeper,” he said. But the sly old dog only went and changed his mind didn’t he!

He also had explained how Fernando Torres would “be involved” but the striker is only on the bench. Clever eh!

There’s no start for Spanish youngster Dani Pacheco though, despite the result being irrelevant tonight and Pacheco being one of the highest rated youngsters in Europe. He’s on the bench, while Eccleston starts and Milan Jovanovic plays.

Joe Cole returns from injury, with Jonjo Shelvey and Christian Poulsen in midfield.

Martin Skrtel captains the side and lines up in defence with Martin Kelly, Danny Wilson and Fabio Aurelio.

Liverpool: Jones, Kelly, Skrtel, Wilson, Aurelio, Cole, Poulsen, Shelvey, Jovanovic, Babel, Eccleston

Kick off is 8.05pm, live on five (UK).
