Dirk content with Sparta win

Dirk Kuyt says although chances earlier in the game should have been converted, Liverpool are happy to beaten Sparta Prague 1-0 and progress in the Europa League tonight.

It was Kuyt’s 85th minute header that proved the difference between the two sides after 175minutes over the tie of goalless football.

The Dutch international told five after the game, “It took us a while to score but 1-0 is enough to go through so we’re happy with that.

“We also missed a couple of players so that’s a positive to take into the next round. There’s more to come.

“It was a hard game and we should have finished it off earlier, but at the end of the day a win is all that counts.

“I thought we just had to keep going. We created the chances and it was just a matter of time to score the goal.”

Liverpool now face the winner of Lech Poznan vs Braga, who play this evening, in the final 16 of the competition.
