Liverpool after Newcastle left-back

Liverpool may be looking to raid Newcastle Utd once again this summer and solve their left-back problems by moving for Jose Enrique.

Following the departure of Paul Konchesky on loan to Nottingham Forest until the end of the season, the Reds are short on left-backs at the club, with Fabio Aurelio recently playing as a midfielder.

Glen Johnson has deputised well at the position, but Kenny Dalglish is keen on finding a long-term solution.

Enrique is thought to have told Newcastle that he doesn’t want to negotiate a new contract at St James’ Park until he knows they’ll be in the Premier League next season.

Following Liverpool’s £35million capture of Newcastle striker Andy Carroll in January, it now looks like Dalglish may make a summer move for the 25-year-old.

Enrique was signed in the summer of 2007 on a 5-year contract for around £6.3million from Villarreal.
