Liverpool’s injury problems continued to grow today with the news that captain Steven Gerrard has been ruled out of action for the rest of the season.
The midfielder had surgery on a groin injury last month and was due to return for last Saturday’s Premier League clash away to West Brom, but suffered a fresh groin injury in training the day before.
Reds boss Kenny Dalglish confirmed the bad news at his pre-Manchester City game press conference at Melwood this morning.
Earlier this week Liverpool also lost Daniel Agger for the rest of the season, whilst Glen Johnson is ruled out for a month.
Martin Kelly, Fabio Aurelio, Jonjo Shelvey all remain on the injury list too.
