No FA punishment for Dalglish

The Football Association will not be punishing Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish after the Reds boss was seen to tell Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger to “piss off” in the aftermath of Sunday’s 1-1 draw between the two sides.

A furious Wenger went to meet Dalglish at the final whistle moaning that Liverpool’s last gasp equaliser – a Dirk Kuyt penalty – should not have been given.

This prompted the words from Dalglish, with a TV camera just a few metres away.

The incident had been likened to the recent case of Wayne Rooney, who told the teleivsion audience to “fuck off” severall times down the lens of the camera during a goal celebration. Rooney was banned for two games.

But an FA spokesman put an end to the Dalglish matter, saying, “There is a clear distinction between the Wayne Rooney incident and others as seen. Rooney’s outburst was directed quite pointedly at a television camera.”

Some common sense from the FA, finally.
