Jovanovic on verge of Anfield exit

Anderlecht have reached an agreement with Liverpool to sign Milan Jovanovic, with the Serbian expected to join the Belgian side later this week.

Jovanovic was signed on a free transfer last summer by former Reds boss Rafa Benitez, but failed to impress either successors, Roy Hodgson or Kenny Dalglish.

Jovanovic’s wages have been much talked about, which suggestions his contract at Anfield has been worth £100,000 a week – with little first team action to show for it.

In that respect, the 30-year-old’s departure will be seen as an attractive lift from the wage bill.

A statement from Anderlecht this evening confirmed, “RSC Anderlecht and Liverpool FC reached today, Tuesday, August 2, 2011, an agreement on the transfer of Liverpool striker Milan Jovanovic.”
