Liverpool will travel to Exeter City in the second round of this season’s Carling Cup.
The Reds’ inability to qualify for Europe sees them make their start in this season’s League Cup competition earlier than usual, with the clash scheduled for 24th August at 7.45pm.
The League One side overcame Yeovil Town 2-0 in the first round to seal their place in the midweek draw, whilst they started the league season with a goalless draw away to Stevenage last Saturday.
Liverpool will be hoping to avoid a repeat of last year’s League Cup campaign, which saw them knocked out to League Two side, Northampton Town.
