Reina concerned by defensive problems

Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has admitted he is concerned by the amount of goals the Reds have been conceding during their pre-season campaign.

A 3-3 draw with Valerenga in Oslo on Monday night was the fifth consecutive game Liverpool have let in three goals this summer.

With only just over a week and a half until Liverpoool kick-off the new Premier League season at home to Sunderland, Reina says a lot of work still needs to be done to patch things up at the back.

“We have a lot of work ahead of us,” Reina told The Times. “We cannot afford to concede so many goals. To let in three is not our identity.

“We have some new signings and we are still working them into our system.”

Reina returned to the side for Monday’s draw in Norway after missing the previous friendlies as he recovered from an operation.
