January Transfer Window 2013 – Day Two

Daniel Sturridge – From Chelsea

The 23 year old forward is expected to complete his arrival at Liverpool later today but won’t be available for tonight’s match against Sunderland. He is rumoured to be given the number 17 jersey.

Kevin Gameiro – From PSG

The French forward has been linked with a loan move to Liverpool but the player says he wishes to remain at PSG, he is quoted as telling radio station RMC: “I have already told everybody that I am a Paris St Germain player and I hope to remain so until the end of the season.

“I was lucky to score some goals in the first half of the season and I hope that kind of form will allow me to get more first-team opportunities.”

Thomas Ince – From Blackpool

The latest of the Ince deal is that Blackpool boss Michael Appleton claims “We have not heard anything since an initial Liverpool approach a couple of weeks ago.” Reports suggest Liverpool could wait until the summer to complete a deal with Blackpool wanting £6m for the winger.

Nuri Sahin – Loan cancelled

Nuri Sahin has started just 7 League games since signing on loan from Real Madrid in August and hasn’t played a full 90 minutes in any of them. The Daily Mail claim Liverpool are looking to cancel the loan deal, and Inter Milan could provide a new destination for the former Dortmund midfielder.

Sahin has not been in the last two squads and according to the official website is “currently recovering from an operation on his nose” – despite being named as sub against Fulham on December 22nd, two weeks after breaking his nose against Udinese.

When he has been used by Brendan Rodgers, Sahin has been deployed in a more advanced role than he has played previously in his career, something the player himself has admitted he has struggled to adjust to.
