Liverpool have completed the signing of Luis Alberto from Spanish side Sevilla.
Alberto, 20, is a versatile forward – capable of playing wide on the left or as a ‘false 9’ – who spent last season on loan to Barcelona‘s ‘B’ side were he caught the eye with 11 goals and 15 assists.
Manager Brendan Rodgers told the official website:
“We are all delighted that Luis has decided to join Liverpool. He has the correct footballing profile and mentality to be a Liverpool player.
“I look forward to working with him to develop his talent and he joins a group of young exciting players at our club.”
Before his moved was completed, Alberto was quoted discussing his excitement at joing Liverpool.
“I’m very much looking forward to it. I’m going to a club like Liverpool, a new culture, a new language, I have to adapt quickly but I’m really looking forward to this big step.
“There are many Spaniards in England and they are doing quite well. Seeing all of them succeeding there motivates me even more.”
The Spaniard arrives from Sevilla for a fee around £6.8m (plus possible additions), having passed his medical on Friday.
Alberto becomes the third signing of the summer so far, joining Kolo Toure and Iago Aspas at Anfield.
