As we reported last night, Swansea had their bid accepted by Liverpool and today Shelvey was in South Wales to complete his medical and agree personal terms.

A brief statement from Liverpool’s official website reads:

Liverpool Football Club have confirmed Jonjo Shelvey has completed a transfer to Swansea City.

Everybody at Liverpool FC would like to wish Jonjo all the best for the future.

Shelvey made just 17 Premier League starts for the Reds in his three years at Anfield. In total he made 68 appearances, scoring 7 goals.

He was signed as a 17-year-old with bright prospects from Charlton Athletic in 2010 but failed to lay down a regular first team place under Roy Hodgson, Kenny Dalglish and then Brendan Rodgers.

Earlier today, Liverpool fans took to Twitter in reaction of Shelvey’s imminent departure.

Shelvey himself had some nice words for the Reds faithful upon his departure, acting in a classy manner via his personal twitter to say:

The England Under-21 international has agreed a four-year deal at the Liberty stadium.

Swansea report the fee as £5m. We understand that fee can rise to £6m depending on bonuses.

Best of luck, Jonjo. YNWA
