Liverpool are set to make a move for £6million rated Real Madrid striker, Alvaro Morata, according to Metro.
Morata has received much praise for his performances for both club and country, having made 14 appearances for the Real Madrid first team since breaking through in 2011.
He is a regular Spain Under-21s international, and was part of the side that recently won the UEFA U21 European Championships in Israel.
Should the Reds sign Morata, he would become the third Spanish attacker of the summer signed by Brendan Rodgers after the arrivals of Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto from Celta Vigo and Sevilla respectively.
Metro report:
Liverpool believe they can land the striker for around £6million and are encouraged by his previous comments in which he admitted he would be interested in playing in England.”
Liverpool aren’t the only ones interested in his signature though, with Managing Madrid suggesting Sevilla are hopeful of replacing Alvaro Negredo with the 20 year old.
However, when questioned whether he would be heading for the exit door at Madrid just last month, Morata told SER (with quotes translated by Sky Sports), “I called the president and he told me that I will stay at Real Madrid next season. He is very happy with me.”
Meanwhile, a Liverpool player looking to swap Merseyside for Spain is 22-year-old Dani Pacheco.
Pacheco bizarrely seems to go on loan to other clubs every season, return to Liverpool briefly for some pre-season training, before deciding that actually a loan spell is the best option after all.
The Daily Mail report that Celta Vigo are in talks with the Reds to take Pacheco on loan for the 2013/14 season.
Pacheco was not included in Rodgers’ squad to travel to Jakarta this week for a pre-season friendly tour, starting this Saturday against Indonesia, before games against Melbourne Victory and Thailand.
