Last May, prodigious snooker player Ronnie O’Sullivan made a bold prediction – that Liverpool will win the league title with Brendan Rodgers and Dr. Steve Peters at the club.
The five times world snooker champion was speaking after Rodgers had explained that Luis Suarez would work with Peters in the aftermath of ‘bitegate’.
O’Sullivan discussed the impact of the sports psychiatrist on his career, explaining how beneficial Peters could be for Suarez – who has since gone to display a renewed character this season with improved focus and maturity.
“If I could afford to have Steve 24/7, then I would,” said O’Sullivan, before making a bold prediction.
“If Liverpool can have him [Peters] there for four or five years then they’ll win the Premier League.
“I have no doubt about it. It’s not a quick fix with Steve, but if Liverpool stick with him and Brendan Rodgers, they’ll win the title. I have no doubt.”
Nobody could quite have predicted how quickly O’Sullivan’s prediction may become reality, with the Reds incredibly in a title challenge in just Rodgers’ second season at the club.
Regardless of the next nine games though, it does seem that O’Sullivan will be proven right eventually…
