Liverpool Football Club confirmed on Thursday that work is set to begin on expanding Anfield, raising the capacity eventually to 59,000 and this video outlines the vision.
Phase one of the development will see 8,300 new seats added to the Main Stand, before phase two adds 4,800 seats to the Anfield Road End.
Captain Steven Gerrard hailed the confirmation of the plans, with work expected to begin on Monday. He told the club’s official web site, “It’s very exciting news that we have finally got around to extending Anfield. For me, it was all about staying at Anfield. As much as I like new stadiums, I’m more traditional and I like the old stadiums like the Camp Nou and places like this, where all the history and all the memories happen.”
