Report: Mario Balotelli “has no future at Liverpool” and tops Anfield exit list this summer

A report this week claims Mario Balotelli will be shown the exit door at Liverpool this summer after Brendan Rodgers’ gamble on the Italian forward failed to pay off.

The report comes via Matt Lawton of the Daily Mail, who claims Rodgers concluded “some time ago” that Balotelli has no future at Anfield.

Lawton claims Rodgers is saddened by the fact that Balotelli appears to have no respect for Liverpool, and no apparent willingness to even follow the simplest instructions.

Balotelli was signed from AC Milan for £16 million last August but has missed long parts of the season, missing 18 games through a mixture of hamstring and groin injuries, illness (three different times) and a knee injury.

The 24-year-old hasn’t started a Premier League game since the home defeat to Chelsea in November. His only start since then was the 1-0 defeat to Besiktas in the Europa League in February.

Lawton claims that Balotelli, particularly around the training ground, has offended team mates who but into Rodgers’ methods.

“He has to get him out and put what money he can recover for him to better use,” writes Lawton. “If only to improve morale in a dressing room that probably lost patience with the guy before even he did. ”

There will be no opportunity for Balotelli to redeem himself in a second season at the club.
