Mohamed Salah enters Liverpool’s top 10 Premier League goalscorers

Mohamed Salah is already into Liverpool’s top 10 Premier League goalscorers after his stunning hat-trick at Bournemouth.

Salah continues to break record after record in a Liverpool shirt as he became the ninth-top goalscorer for Liverpool in the Premier League era after a ruthless hat-trick on the south coast took his goal tally for the club to 42.

The Egyptian’s second treble in a red shirt came in a dominant performance from Liverpool at the Vitality Stadium, where the forward took the spotlight after a scintillating display which saw him find the back of the net in either half.

While doubts remain over the validity of his opener after appearing to come from an offside position, Salah’s last two goals were nothing short of sensational and left no doubts over his quality.

The three goals not only secured Liverpool three vital points, but also Salah’s place in the club’s top Premier League goalscorers – it was also the first time a Liverpool player has scored a league hat-trick on the road in over four years.

More impressively, however, the feat comes after just 52 appearances – meaning the achievement has arrived in fewer games than any other Liverpool player.

  • 1. Robbie Fowler, 128
  • 2. Steven Gerrard, 120
  • 3. Michael Owen, 118
  • 4. Luis Suarez, 69
  • 5. Fernando Torres, 65
  • 6. Dirk Kuyt, 51
  • 7. Daniel Sturridge, 50
  • 8. Ian Rush, 45
  • 9. Mohamed Salah, 42
  • 10. Philippe Coutinho, 41
  • = Steve McManaman, 41

Prior to the trip the south coast Salah was hovering outside Liverpool’s top 10 on 39 goals, but after bursting into life the 26-year-old has now overtaken both Philippe Coutinho and Steve McManaman in the rankings.

While he has a way to go to see Robbie Fowler looking over his shoulder, Salah is creeping up to both Ian Rush and current teammate Daniel Sturridge – and with 10 league goals to his name in just 16 games it would not come as a surprise if he moved into sixth position before the season was out.

After a stunning debut campaign at Anfield it was always going to be tough for Salah to match the rising levels of expectation, but so far he is failing to disappoint on the goal front having put himself as joint-top of the league’s scoring charts alongside Arsenal‘s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
