Jamal Musiala “on the radar” for Liverpool – but transfer “absolutely unlikely”

Bayern Munich’s young star, Jamal Musiala, is reportedly “on the radar” for Liverpool, but there are several reasons to believe this transfer won’t happen.

Musiala is widely considered one of the best young attacking midfielders in Europe, and is fast-becoming one of Bayern’s brightest prospects.

As always, a host of big clubs immediately begin to be linked to these talented youngsters, and Musiala is no different.

Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg reported the Reds are “monitoring him as a possible top replacement for (Mo) Salah,” and have the 20-year-old “on their radar.”

However, the reporter added bad news for excited supporters, saying: “His move to LFC is absolutely unlikely” and “Musiala also has no thoughts of farewell at the moment.”

While Liverpool could of course hold interest, there are several reasons not to believe a transfer will happen. Firstly, it is nonsensical to describe Musiala as a “replacement for Salah,” given the German is not a right winger.

In his career, he has only ever played a more central midfield position or to the left – not exactly a substitute for Salah.

The other reason is that this is likely just ‘agent talk’. While there is no immediate thought of a move for Musiala, the other clubs cited by Plettenberg are Man City and Real Madrid.

With the youngster’s contract expiring in 2026, he is currently on around £90,000 per week and his agents, Germany-based 11WINS GmbH, could push for a better deal in the next year using other clubs’ interest as leverage.

All in all, this is one to ignore for now, but that’s not to say Jurgen Klopp wouldn’t take the talented German international at Anfield.
