A January exit for out-of-favour centre-back Mamadou Sakho still looks highly likely, with Sevilla strongly linked with a move for the 26-year-old.
Sakho has been completely frozen out by Jurgen Klopp this season, following a number of disciplinary issues in 2015/16 and during the summer.
The Frenchman has been made aware that he can move elsewhere, with a host of both English and foreign clubs interested in acquiring his signature.
According to Sky Sports, Liverpool’s Europa League final conquerors Sevilla are the latest team to throw their name in the hat.
The Reds have made it clear that Sakho will only be allowed to leave on a permanent deal, however, with a loan move not appealing in the slightest.
The club value him over at over £20 million, and should a suitor pay that for him, it will potentially free up more funds for Klopp this month.
Sakho has been stagnating in Liverpool’s U23s since the summer, and in terms of his own career, he must move on before it drifts by.
Few players have gone from hero to zero quite like the former Paris Saint-Germain youngster, who became a cult figure after signing for £15 million in September 2013.
His outgoing personality made him instantly likeable, and some of his performances at centre-back were colossal at times.
It has been a sad end to life on Merseyside for Sakho, but Klopp has made the right decision in deeming him surplus to requirements.
Hopefully, a deal is sorted sooner rather than later.
