Rafa happy with job well done

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez says he is happy with the team’s performance as the Reds beat West Brom 2-0 at The Hawthorns on Saturday evening.

First-half goals from Robbie Fowler and Djibril Cisse gave the visitors the victory which puts them third in the Premiership table, five points behind second place Manchester Utd, having played a game more.

Benitez, reflecting on the game which saw the Reds win despite having captain Steven Gerrard suspended, said, “In the first half we played really well and controlled the game all of the time.

“In the second half we were a bit under pressure but we have done a good job and it’s a good result for us. It worked well for us using the pace of Cisse on the right wing and with Xabi Alonso’s passing ability it was perfect.

“We need to keep going now until the end and keep winning games. You can’t say it will be impossible to finish second because you don’t know what can happen. We are sure we will finish third but maybe second.”
