Kewell shines in Aussie comeback

Liverpool’s Harry Kewell played an impressive 90 minutes, helping Australia overturn a 0-1 deficit against Japan to win 3-1 with all three goals in the final eight minutes of play.

Kewell commanded the midfield for the Aussies, and carved out a couple of great opportunities for himself including a ferocious shot just after Japan had taken a shock first half lead on 26 minutes.

But Australia battled on and just as it looked as if they’d lost their first match of the World Cup Finals, Everton‘s Tim Cahill delivered two goals in the final six minutes, with John Aloisi adding a third deep into injury time.

Reported Reds transfer target, Mark Viduka, captained the team. Their next match is against Brazil this Sunday at 5pm BST.

Monday’s World Cup Results

USA 0-3 Czech Republic
Italy 2-0 Ghana
