Allardyce disappointed by Didi decision

Bolton Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce has revealed how disappointed he is by Liverpool midfielder Didi Hamann’s decision to join Manchester City, choosing Stuart Pearce’s side over Bolton.

After Hamann was told by Reds boss Rafael Benitez that he would not have many first team chances next season, he looked all set for a summer transfer to the Reebok Stadium.

But in the last few days the former German international changed his mind and is now set to sign for City. According to reports, the change of heart was down to Hamann’s wife who wasn’t keen on a move to Bolton.

Allardyce says, “It’s a big disappointment because this is the second time we’ve failed to get Hamann. I don’t know why he’s changed hisa mind – I haven’t had an explanation.

“I would have liked Hamann because he could have done a job for us, but we haven’t got him so we move on.”
