Craig’s got a long way to go ‘“ Rafa

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has warned fans not to get carried away with the expectations of striker Craig Lindfield despite the youngster scoring his debut goal for the club during the 1-0 victory over Crewe at Gresty Road on Saturday.

17-year-old Lindfield scored an impressive goal, linking up well with Robbie Fowler after good midfield work from Bolo Zenden.

But although Benitez was quick to praise Liverpool’s star of the FA Youth Cup last season, he warned fans that Lindfield has a lot of learning still to do.

He said, “He’s a very good player, he has potential and his understanding with Robbie Fowler impressed me. He got himself into good positions and showed good movement

“I am really pleased with what he did on Saturday but he has to be stronger and you cannot build a star after just 45 minutes in the first team. He now needs to carry on working hard and get more experience.”
