The long awaited Liverpool debut Mark Gonzalez has had to be put on hold for a week after he suffered a slight knee injury in training and won’t be risked in tomorrow’s pre-season friendly with Wrexham at the Racecourse Ground.
Speaking at a Melwood press conference, Rafa said;
‘Mark has been training really well and I was really impressed. He’s been scoring a lot of goals – with his left foot, his right foot and his head.’
‘Then, unfortunately, at the end of the training session he felt something in his knee. It’s not serious but he won’t be playing at Wrexham. He will play at Crewe next Saturday.’
He will be joined on the sidelines by fellow new-comer Fabio Aurelio who is also nursing a slight strain but Liverpool’s other summer singings Craig Bellamy and Gabriel Paletta are likely to play.
The Reds will sport their new Adidas European away kit for tomorrow’s game.
