Although it is understood that Rafael Benitez has flown out to Spain this week to tie up a transfer deal, it may not be the signing of Sevilla’s Daniel Alves, but that of Real Madrid star Guti.
Reports in Spain suggest that Benitez has been monitoring the 29-year-old closely, with Guti not thought to be part of new Real boss Fabio Capello’s plans.
Guti told Spanish reporters, “If new people come in or if the coach decides I’m not going to play then the best things is to do something new.”
Manchester United are also said to be interested in securing the services of the Spanish midfielder.
