Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has admitted that Liverpool deserved Sunday’s Community Shield to win ‘œbecause they were better than us’.
The Reds came out victorious, beating the Blues 2-1 thanks to goals from John Arne Riise and Peter Crouch at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
But Mourinho isn’t too disheartened by the defeat. He says, “If I look at the game as a pre-season game, I think it was fantastic for us because we played against a team in much better condition than us,” said Mourinho.
“Because of that, it was very good. If I look at the game as a minor trophy, of course you don’t like to lose but if you don’t think about the difference of condition of both teams, they deserved to win because they were better than us.”
