TIA 4-4 NSNO – Series ends level

The final game in this season’s series of friendlies between This Is Anfield and Everton website NSNO ended in a 4-4 draw after a dramatic comeback from the Blues which sees the series ending all square.

The match was played despite the near-freezing conditions, and TIA’s already depleted squad took a big blow with captain Chronic dislocating his shoulder in the warm up (a warm up which involved him attempting a bicycle kick!) and was rushed off to hospital in an ambulance.

NSNO had the early pressure but the Reds took the lead and went 3-0 up in the first half. But the NSNO keeper launched a huge clearance which took a Paul Robinson-esque bounce over the head of BWS in goal to draw one back and give the Blues hope!

Another goal for the Reds, with the rain giving as bad as it could including hail – put TIA 4-1 ahead with 10 minutes to go. But tiring legs and a strong comeback from NSNO saw them level it up and end all square in the match and the series for the 2006-07 season.

Thanks go to all the players from both sides turning out in the poor conditions, it’s great to see these matches show there can be friendship despite the rivalry between the two sides.

The series will begin again in August as the Premiership season kicks off…
