Peter Crouch’s spectacular overhead kick against Galatasaray in the Champions League group stages has been voted Liverpool’s goal of the season in our latest poll. Crouch polled 30% of all votes, with Daniel Agger’s goal against West Ham voted second with 20%.
Third place went to Xabi Alonso for his half way line special against Newcastle, Jermaine Pennant’s only goal of the season – against Chelsea finished fourth, with Agger again at fifth for his semi final goal against the Blues.
John Arne Riise had the sixth, eighth and ninth best goals with his Charity Shield goal – again against Chelsea – his volley at PSV and his Nou Camp right footed important goal in the Champions League. That was sandwiched by Stevie Gerrard’s in the League Cup defeat to Arsenal, and ahead of Crouch’s goal against West Ham.
